ROTAX 503 – 2 STROKE – 50 HP AIR COOLED

THE ROTAX 503 IN ITS SIMPLICITY AND EASE IN MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN IN THE LIGHT AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY FOR SO LONG NOW, THAT MANY PEOPLE IN OUR INDUSTRY REFER TO IT AS ALMOST “BULLET” PROOF. THE 503 IS MOUNTED INVERTED ON THE CHINOOK AND WE OFFER IT WITH EITHER THE B BOX OR THE E GEAR BOX (E BOX IS THE MORE UPDATED GEAR BOX WITH BUILT IN DAMPNER FOR BETTER PROP VIBRATION ABSORPTION AND THE BUILT IN ELECTRIC START). THE INCREDIBLE 1500 HOUR TBO, THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS 80 HP ENGINE AND THE RELIABILITY OF THE 4 STROKE HAS MADE THIS THE ENGINE THAT PEOPLE MOST ASK FOR. Engine mounted spark plugs up (Code S).
Engine mounted spark plugs down (Code H).
Propeller shaft offset towards cylinders (Code Z).

THE INTEGRAL GEARBOX ON THE 700E USES STRAIGHT CUT GEARS WITH A SPRING-WASHER TYPE TORSIONAL COUPLING AHEAD OF THE LARGE FLYWHEEL. THE GEARBOX IS ATTACHED TO THE FLYWHEEL CASE, THE GEARS ARE LUBRICATED BY THE MAIN ENGINE OIL SYSTEM, THE SAME AS THE ROTAX 912 FOUR-STROKE. THE STANDARD GEAR RATIO IS 2.58:1
