INTRODUCTION
The following information is intended to assist the owners of all Chinook products which are outlined in this service bulletin to insure continued safe operation.

TECHNICAL DATA AND GENERAL INFORMATION
In addition to this technical information presented on this page, please click on the following links to refer to more information...

SUBJECT
Installation of rear inspection ring on the Chinook Plus 2 Vertical Fin

REASON
To date, we have had one reported incident of excessive wear on an up elevator cable, in the area of the rear pulley 1-12. This wear was caused due to a misalignment and improperly installed pulley cable and pulley mounts during initial construction.

COMPLIANCE
In order to comply with this service bulletin an inspection ring and cover must be installed that will allow inspection of the above mentioned area. This inspection can also be done by looking inside the rear of the main body tube, however an inspection ring must still be installed. The following is copied directly out of our construction manual.

"Positioning the pulley is very important! Slide the pulley over the slot in the Body tube 1-01 ( the cable guide goes down into the side in body tube 1-01) The pulley must sit so the Cable does not touch the body tube 1-01 on either end. The pulley mounts can also be bent to raise or lower the pulley. Remember to align the pulley with the cable."

There are general accepted practices for installing an inspection ring which can be followed.

SUMMARY
With an inspection ring installed this will allow a walk around inspection of this area each and every time before flight. If you have any concerns or question please contact the dealer or distributor in your area.

Warning: Non-compliance with these recommendations could result in damage and personal injury or even death.
